Job Summary

The IT Officer will provide technical support including servers, networking, computers, cabling components, printers, phone system, routers, switches, as well as internetworking protocols (TCP/IP).

Provide technical support primarily for main field offices, field staff, roving staff, interns, and visitors for all computer (both hardware/software), printer, server, and networking equipment issues. Primary role is to support, analyze, document and standardize computer hardware and software systems. Must be able to effectively install and repair computers in a timely manner, as well as, assist in various IT projects and training of end-users.

Main Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. The tasks listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

  1. Maintain working proficiency of all hardware and software to enable maximum utilization of IT resources;
  2. Ensure all network, server, and computer components are maintained to industry best practices and provide recommendations;
  3. Address and resolve internal trouble tickets;
  4. Create and maintain current system documentation;
  5. Resolve work orders in a timely and expeditious manner to ensure end-user satisfaction;
  6. Responsible for training and supporting end-users with computers, printers, mobile devices, and various others;
  7. May be required to work overtime, weekends, and on-call rotation;
  8. Follows IT Department policy and procedures at all times;
  9. Possibility of 50% travel. May require being away from home for up to 2 months at a time.

Typically, a Bachelor's degree in related area. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  1. 3-5+ years of relevant experience working in related field.
  2. Combination of the following certifications and/or equivalent hands-on knowledge: CompTIA A+/Network+; MCSA (good to have);
  3. Good conceptual understanding of how Information Systems work;
  4. Must have worked in a small to medium size business environment providing 1st and 2nd tier level support (minimum 50 node network);
  5. Excellent interpersonal/communication/written/documentation skills;
  6. Must have the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users;
  7. Knowledge of installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting network, server, computer, phone system, and printer hardware;
  8. Patch management best practices;
  9. Intermediate server and LAN administration experience;
  10. Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server;
  11. Intermediate knowledge of Windows and Mac OS;
  12. Working experience and administration of cloud based services like Office 365 (good to have);
  13. Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy;
  14. Strong troubleshooting and technical research abilities a must;
