20-207: Junior Developer, Cognos
Department:Information Technology
Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:



  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboard and score cards to meet business requirements using the Cognos 10 BI Suite.
  • Develop, maintain and improve Framework Manager models and packages to support business requirements.
  • Design and implement reporting and modeling best practices, standards and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain standards for reporting development, deployment and administration of Cognos BI.
  • Create documentation and procedures for reporting environment.
  • Deploy and monitor report schedules.
  • Analyze business requirements as they relate to reporting and recommend solutions.
  • Run weekly/monthly user access reports, liaise with IT to resolve any reported user account access discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain full life cycle methodology including change management processes and ensure changes are properly tested and migrated to production.
  • Review and assess impact of Cognos software updates, patches and major releases and work effectively to coordinate work on behalf of constituencies


  • Ensure compliance with International Medical Corps policies, rules, regulations.
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as requested by supervisor and senior management team.
  • Work with a positive attitude demonstrating teamwork and leadership.
  • Exhibit honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Business or Engineering;
  • Certifications: MCSE, CCNP or CCDP, CISSP or equivalent.


  • Expert knowledge of computer programming applications and terminology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of current information concerning programming, operating systems, and hardware functions and capabilities;
  • Ability to prepare written documentation of procedures and technical matters.
  • Outstanding organizational skills;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and made decisions independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and many administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment;
  • Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations;
  • Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources.
