International Medical Corps is accountable to: patients and communities; host government, Ministry of Health; our organization and donors. International Medical Corps commits to a coordinated response under the national health emergency management authorities. International Medical Corps collaborates with the national health system, the cluster and the humanitarian community.

Selected personnel are on standby to deploy to a crisis within 48 hours. Personnel may deploy to new areas of operation or lend support to International Medical Corps teams already on the ground. International Medical Corps maintains a roster of volunteers and staff who have completed pre-deployment paperwork, orientation and training. The roster is updated on a regular basis.

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Talent Acquisition Manager - Global Surge Capacity, the Talent Acquisition Assistant will support recruitment for the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) Roster through the updating paperwork for candidates applying for the global emergency response roster of professionals and volunteers.  They will assist recruiters send out reference requests and collect and upload required documentation.  This full-time, temporary position is available immediately and will run through February 2020.   

Main Responsibilities

  • Posting job advertisements on related and relevant websites, contacting potential candidates, scheduling interviews and following up during the recruitment process
  • Assist performing background checks and verify a candidate’s qualifications and experience.
  • Provide full support to recruitment specialists on full cycle recruitment for all positions in the organization, including Emergency Response Roster System. 
  • Follow procedures to collect documents and information from candidates and update Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Assist keeping ATS records and Emergency Response Roster database up to date according to respective process and procedure
  • Build relationship with candidates and liaise with  individual partners as directed
  • Liaise with other departments as required per process and requested for maintenance of recruitment and Roster systems.
  • Report on progress of individual tasks and respective recruitment cycle regularly and as requested.
  • Attend recruiting events and career fairs

  • Undergraduate or Masters level student or recent graduate in relevant field such as Human Resources, Emergency Response, International Affairs


  • Experience working in an office environment required; work or volunteer experience in International Development or Emergency Response preferred
  • Experience working with SharePoint or similar data management system preferred
  • Experience entering, managing and reporting project data in Excel


  • Knowledge of recruiting and legal aspects of hiring processes preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Skills working in cloud-based environment with Sharepoint or similar system preferred
  • Strong initiative and interest in learning about international response and recruitment 
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills
  • Able to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Must have exceptional people skills
  • Willingness to follow all instructions, policies and procedures
