Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

International Medical Corps is a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.

Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in areas worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at high risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Senior Web & Graphic Designer, support International Medical Corps mission by creating and designing collateral, visibility materials and other visual communication support items.
  • Work with Communications Department colleagues and other departments as necessary to create and develop design concepts, layouts and graphics.
  • Participate in various design projects from concept to completion: pitching creative ideas and designs, producing drafts and prototypes, creating engaging design solutions, collaborating with team members to launch designs.

  • Create and design outreach materials for publication and distribution, based on existing styles and brand guidelines, in collaboration with communications department colleagues
  • Ensure that International Medical Corps graphic standards are maintained on all items
  • Develop visual support materials, including decks and presentations, one-sheets, reports, booklets and pamphlets
  • Support International Medical Corps' outreach efforts by creating special presentation materials and providing audiovisual support when necessary
  • Synthesize and assess content to determine key points in order to create engaging and compelling visuals with appropriate and compelling hierarchy in keeping with the overall messaging and strategy of each project
  • Work with Digital Communications team to create collateral for social media, email appeals, and other digital platforms aimed at cultivating and growing donor base and brand awareness
  • Maintain photo library and video library, and fulfill duplication needs
  • Provide images and video needed for presentations and other outreach as necessary
  • Assist as needed with printing, ordering and distribution of International Medical Corps publications and visibility materials
  • Help maintain and update the website, as well as implement design changes as necessary

Qualifications:
  • BA or equivalent certification in design or visual communications

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong design and creative skills in a broad range of mediums including print, digital, environmental, and web
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert knowledge of typography, color, design theory and production
  • Expert knowledge of: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Ability to work successfully and effectively, both independently and as part of a team in a multicultural and participatory environment
  • Detail-oriented and precise
  • Working knowledge or familiarity with, HTML, CSS, and the web design and development process
  • Video-editing skills
  • Familiarity with user experience and user interface design and processes
  • Experience working within a content management system
