Background

The Resource Development (RD) department is responsible for the organization’s private fundraising across a variety of channels including direct marketing, major gifts, corporate and foundation, gift-in-kind, and more. The RD Data and Operations team supports the efforts of the department with gift processing and recording, database and technology management, reporting and analytics, project and knowledge management, procurement, and other support functions.

Job Purpose

he RD Data Officer acts as the main steward of the Raiser’s Edge database and Engaging Networks online marketing platform, the point person for reporting and analytics needs, and manager of team/departmental knowledge and processes.

Main Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. The tasks listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

  • Design data storage and efficient flow of data, developing policies and procedures, and maintaining data integrity for all gifts and supporters of all fundraising channels in order to enable efficient operations, data mining, and reporting. Maintain data dictionary.
  • Execute data imports, universal updates, and data queries. Prepare and provide quality control on mailing lists, e-mail segmentations, and other data pulls
  • Design and generate timely, reliable and comprehensive regular reports and analyses
  • Devise analytics strategy, as well as identify and obtain new data and data sources to support new analysis and reporting initiatives
  • Work with all channels to ensure 360-degree view of supporters in database. Design regular quality-control audits, data cleansing and update routine, seek vendor services for obtaining up-to-date and relevant supporter info
  • Act as the owner of all processes of the RD & Operations Team, and maintain policy and procedure manual
  • Work with all members in RD to constantly maximize the usage of existing data and systems, identify opportunities, implement process change, and increase efficiency
  • Act as the owner of and maintain vendor relationships for all operations systems, such as donor database, online fundraising platform, prospect research tools, and mobile giving platform
  • Perform trouble-shooting and testing, and implement solution
  • Conduct regular user training and maintain training materials. Assist end users on database use, especially query and report, and empower users to become self-sufficient

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Project management experience or certification & Raiser’s Edge experience

Experience

  • Three years of experience in process management, business analytics or fundraising operations
  • Three years of experience with CRM and/or database management Bachelor's degree in related field

Competency

  • Excellent organizational skills and superb attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret and implement department business needs
  • Ability to design and manage large scale data system and efficient processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and data manipulation tools
  • Excel VBA/Macro experience preferred
