International Medical Corps is a ‘first-responder’ both to natural and man-made disasters and has a mandate of working in remote locations.  The organization has a comprehensive security management policy and plan in place and committed to do everything possible within its remit to ensure safety and security.  Notwithstanding, the mandate and programming choices of International Medical Corps require staff with a high degree of resilience, sound judgment, the ability to move fast, and the willingness to travel and work in unstable situations and harsh conditions.


International Medical Corps is seeking an experienced clinician to assist with technical screening and interviewing of clinical staff to support the Human Resource Department and Humanitarian Response Unit.  The person will have prior experience in management of health services and Emergency or Trauma Care.  


The technical advisor will work closely with the technical team and HR to ensure that applicants for deployment are interviewed in a timely fashion.  HR conducts the initial screening and recommends them for a technical interview.  The technical interviewer conducts the technical interview and writes up a summary of their review and recommendations and sends back to the HR focal point. 


To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

 The Technical Advisor for Recruitment will assume the following roles and responsibilities and carry them out according to the International Medical Corps procedures:

  1. Using Job Descriptions and additional criteria provided by International Medical Corps HR staff, conduct technical interviews of candidates for the following positions – Doctor, Nurse, Nurses Practitioner, Physician Assistant, and possibly HRU Medical Director;
  2. Conduct interviews using  Blue Jeans, Skype or telephone if Skype is not possible;
  3. Work with HR to set up method of communicating outcomes of interviews;
  4. Summarize technical findings and recommendations for next steps (e.g., field position, other position within International Medical Corps, or not applicable at this time) and submit to HR

Interviews will be carried out by Skype when possible and International Medical Corps will reimburse any expenses accrued due to interviews conducted by telephone.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics:  Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity. 

  • Physician for all positions
  • Nurse- Masters level nurse  or Nurse Practitioner nurse for any nursing positions
  • Highly organized and able to work independently
  • At least 2 years of clinical work and public health field experience in developing countries preferred
  • Experience in managing health programs preferred
  • Humanitarian response experience preferred
