JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Emergency GBV Manager is to ensure GBV concerns are integrated into emergency response activities and to lead GBV coordination and program implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

1. Program Planning
• Work closely with the Team Leader/Country Director to meet understand program goals and to meet expectations
• Lead/participate in a coordinated rapid assessment to better understand risks of GBV, to map points of service for survivors of GBV, and to identify support structures
• Initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities, including case management systems, as emergency stabilizes
• Contribute to production of proposals for any new projects

2. Coordination
• Coordinate with all relevant actors and actively participate in GBV working group or sub-cluster (where active)
• As needed, support GBV coordination groups to develop inclusive membership, terms of reference, information management systems, standard operating procedures, and to build capacity of GBV partners
• Work with partners and community members to develop a referral pathway and referral mechanism for AoR
• Coordinate with other sectors and participate in additional cluster working groups to ensure integration of GBV concerns into various services

3. Training
• Organize and lead trainings for partner organizations working in various sectors
• Organize and lead trainings for key groups of first responders
• Organize and co-facilitate trainings for medical practitioners
• Identify and train community-based volunteers for prevention activities and support of survivors
• Build capacity of local organizations providing psychosocial support

4. Representation
• Represent the organization at meetings as appropriate
• Ensure maximum visibility of the agency amongst the UN and NGO community
• Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct 5. Human Resources Management
• Assist in the selection, training and support of qualified program staff
• Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self care

6. Security
• Ensures application and compliance of security protocols and policies
• Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing new initiatives with national staff, partners and community leaders.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study preferred
  • Experience managing GBV prevention and response programs. Prior emergency response experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience conducting GBV assessments
  • Familiarity with standards and current guidance for GBV prevention, response, and coordination, including standards for protection from SEA.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian architecture and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs.
  • Profound cross-cultural awareness
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently, as well as to work well with a team
  • Extremely flexible, and the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
