19-226: Treasury Accountant

Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

Position Description



Location: Los Angeles


Supervisor: Controller




Using established controls, policies and procedures and with the high level of accuracy and independency the Treasury Accountant performs accounting functions for headquarters, including verifying, recording, reconciling and consolidating transactions related to cash, investments, cash contributions, receivables and others





  • Process daily wire transfers to field offices, third party vendors and employees in support of IMC’s international operations


  • Support International Medical Corps UK by processing and recording monthly cash transactions for CNB UK bank account


  • Provide daily updates to the finance staff in the Split and UK offices on funds transferred to or on behalf of IMC’s offices. Monitor and  provide daily updates to Assistant Controller and Controller on the cash position of the company


  • Interact with banks,  internal teams and customers on various treasury issues including account balances, lockbox, online bill pay, ACH payments, stop payments and returned or delayed wires



  • Work closely with Resource Development department in accounting for and reconciling cash and stock contributions. Provide immediate notification to the Resource Development team of any processing errors or rejected donations


  • Processes corporate cash receipts including daily deposits to bank accounts  


  • Actively participate in the Treasury Governance Committee


  • Participate in and/or suggest treasury related process improvements that reduce workload while enhancing internal controls, visibility and accountability.  Participate in the development and reporting of key metrics


  • Manage, track and analyze compliance holds to facilitate the timely release of funds from compliance. Develop reporting metrics. Explore payment options in collaboration with the Controller




  • Ensure all executed wire payments are posted into Costpoint daily and are properly allocated to the corresponding vendor account


  • Post cash receipts and cash disbursements


  • Record and reconcile monthly investment activity


  • Reconcile banks (HQ, not including Payroll)  


  • Perform reconciliation of various balance sheet and income statement accounts to assure the correct balances are reflected in the financial statements. Resolve all outstanding issues to reduce or eliminate reconciling items


  • Responsible for the status of outstanding receivables; issues invoices for submission to third party, follows up on the payment status and elevates if any collection issues arise


  • Assist with audits. Answer accounting and audit questions by researching and interpreting data.


  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing account information.


  • Participate in projects that enhance the overall productivity and functionality of the accounting and treasury department. Make recommendations and take an active role in identifying and solving issues.


  • Inform the Assistant Controller and Controller of any issues that may affect the department’s ability to provide accurate and timely information


  • Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive





  • B.S. in Accounting with 2-5 years’ experience; Master degree or CPA desired but not required


  • Intermediate Excel skills


  • Experience with change management and/or continuous improvement


  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment


  • Ability to maintain confidential information with the highest degree of integrity


  • Must be punctual and reliable


  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding organization skills
