JOB SUMMARY:

International Medical Corps is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist (IDS) for a global emergency response project focused on strengthening capacity and supporting rapid response to public health emergencies, infectious disease outbreaks, and humanitarian crises. The IDS will lead the development of curricula and e-learning modules, and develop both a Core Competency Framework and Capacity Assessment Tool for emergency response personnel of various types. In addition to a completed framework, the IDS will also identify and select courses and materials needed to establish an Operational Readiness Program for deployable, emergency first responders. Additional courses to be developed or adapted for emergency response personnel may include: infection prevention and control in outbreak contexts; clinical care for infectious and traumatic conditions; logistics and procurement for emergency project teams; monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in emergencies; gender and social inclusion; or accountability to affected populations.

Curriculum Development Coordinator

  • Draft timeline and work-plan for overall curriculum development strategy in line with program work-plan
  • Assist in the identification of all resources relevant to the development of course curriculum for various classes of emergency response personnel
  • Ensure that deadlines are met
  • Ensure that feedback collected from various sources and partners and is considered in the formulation of the curriculum
  • Serve as the compiler of the curriculum documents, ensuring that all parts are homogenous in quality and style
  • Evaluate software and web-based training options already available at International Medical Corps, in view of the content and volume of the material and the employee composition and locations;
  • With Principle Investigator (PI), Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) and other departments as applicable (Logistics, etc) finalize the development of a training framework adding to the training curriculums, strategy and long-term work plan and certification courses for Emergency Response Unit and emergency roster;
  • Work with the Principle Investigator (PI), Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) and other departments including IT department, to design and develop interactive and engaging e-learning courses based on the finalized training materials;
  • Providing on-going support to web-based programs as needed

Qualifications:
  • Past experience writing curricula

  • At least one year hands on experience and familiarity with e-learning tools, preferably Articulate, and LMS
  • Minimum two years of experience developing, conducting and managing training programs directly, preferably in the international development/ emergency interventions arena
  • Minimum two years of experience with international aid and development programs, specifically in regard to donor (USAID highly preferred) regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organization skills
