Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

 

SUMMARY: The Digital Communications Officer is responsible for promoting and protecting International Medical Corps’ brand across all online media, and helping to raise awareness of and engagement with our brand by implementing an integrated communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s broader strategic plans and direction. The Communications Department also enhances and supports program and resource development activities and events. The Digital Communications Officer contributes to these efforts and serves as a liaison between the Communications and Resource Development teams, as needed.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

 

  • Maintain emergency-ready digital communication assets and processes;
  • Support emergency response communication activities as needed, which will likely require unplanned work outside normal business hours during a sudden disaster;
  • Manage International Medical Corps’ presence across relevant existing and emerging digital media channels, maintaining a consistent brand across all platforms;
  • Coordinate with Communications colleagues to use digital tools and tactics to help raise awareness, cultivate and steward relationships with supporters, and communicate quickly and effectively during disasters.
  • Liaise with the program teams for the purpose of gathering content; draft content as needed for digital channels.
  • Support and contribute to development of an integrated, data-driven digital communications strategy by measuring and tracking impact of digital communications activities on objectives defined by International Medical Corps’ broader acquisition, cultivation and stewardship strategies;
  • Keep up to date with emerging digital communications trends, tools and platforms, and help develop, implement, and maintain best practices with respect to these new opportunities as they are relevant to our goals and objectives;
  • Implement, test, and measure the impact of new digital initiatives;
  • Help identify digital platforms that will enable us to reach and engage new audiences;
  • Coordinate, develop content for, draft language and implement cultivation and stewardship activities that inform the public about International Medical Corps’ work, including a monthly e-newsletter, social media engagement, text messages, and other engagement activities;
  • Provide live social media outreach in special media relations, public outreach and awareness initiatives;
  • Help organize and maintain International Medical Corps’ digital assets for effective use and repurposing across the organization, and fulfill duplication needs;
  • Assist in the updating and maintenance of the International Medical Corps website;
  • Coordinate printing and distribution of International Medical Corps publications and visibility materials;
  • Help with the creation of presentation materials and providing audiovisual support when necessary;
  • Help coordinate the activities of interns in the Communications department
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the depth and breadth of International Medical Corps’ work and presence around the world;
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organizations Code of Conduct, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to internal and external actors;
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps;

Qualifications:

 

  • Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize work, yet multitask in a fast-paced work setting;
  • Familiarity with print and web design fundamentals;
  • Excellent writing and editing and proofreading skills;
  • Knowledge of international affairs and humanitarian issues;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and manage working relationships diplomatically;
  • Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure, both independently and as part of a team in a multicultural and participatory environment;
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Photoshop required, experience with other Adobe CC apps and video editing a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field, or equivalent experience.
