International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medial Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

International Medical Corps is currently recruiting for a Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support their Global operations. The position reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources Business Partner and be primarily based in our Los Angeles office and provide support to both US and overseas locations. They will operate as a trusted advisor and business partner providing expertise on people and organizational issues. The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating the challenging forces in the rapidly changing humanitarian aid environment and implementing the necessary HR processes that enable the organization to successfully implement its mission.

The Director, HRBP will have proven experience in the design and administration of compensation and benefit programs, progressive global talent acquisition strategies and addressing Federal, State and Global labor laws. Travel will be required as necessary.


• Serve as a senior HR business partner to support senior leadership, employees and country programs;
• Monitor the effectiveness of existing programs and where necessary design and deliver cost effective, integrated solutions at Corporate and Field level specifically in the areas of:
o Total rewards planning and administration
o Recruitment and Sourcing
o Employee data management
• Act as a credible advocate for the International Medical Corps HR team ensuring that they are respected and trusted by the global organization;
• Coach and develop the capacity of the HR team throughout the organization;
• Provide effective guidance to staff, colleagues and business partners on employee relations, compensation/benefits, employee lifecycle and general HR challenges;
• Have a data driven mindset to assess and deliver organizational processes to support the organization mission;
• Help foster an ongoing culture of innovation and compliance throughout the organization;
• Provide strong collaboration skills within and outside of HR;

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Bachelor's degree is required. A Masters degree in a related field is preferred;
• 8 to 10 years progressive HR experience including resolving complex employee relations issues;
• 3+ years of working with an international based organization. INGO experience is preferred;
• Success in implementation of operational programs and processes;
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws;
• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
