Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

The crisis experienced by the Malian Republic in 2012 more precisely in its northern part had many consequences. With the insecurity context, many have fled to neighboring Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Algeria and Niger. This conflict has severely affected the health system, resulting in a reduction in medical care and a deterioration in the nutritional status of the populations of the Health Districts of Timbuktu, Taoudénit and Gourmas Rharous.

Indeed, Malnutrition is a major problem in the Region of Timbuktu (northern Mali) and remains one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality among children under five. According to the latest SMART carried out by the Ministry of Health in July/August 2018, the prevalence of Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) in the Timbuktu region was at  12.5% (MAM: 10.7% and MAS: 1.8%).

To solve this problem International Medical Corps (IMC) is developing a multisectoral project (Health, Nutrition and Protection) in the health district of Timbuktu, funded by OFDA and entitled "Improving Health, Nutrition and Protection Services in Timbuktu and Taoudenit Northern Mali ". In the nutrition component, in addition to screening and case management, promoting good infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices is an important part of preventing malnutrition. To achieve this, the project foresee an effective community involvement in the activities.

IMC support to the Ministry of Health targets the following sectors:

5. Community health care support

6.  Drugs and other medical equipment Supply

7. IYCF-Emergency
