Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:
International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

In response to the current crisis, based on several years of working closely with local service-providers in Iraq, IMC developed Multi-Service Centers (MSCs) or “one stop shops” to serve conflict- affected communities. This innovative approach, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) focuses on bringing services closer to the user by improving access that integrates different services in one place, providing choice and a personalized service for the beneficiary. MSCs serve the wide range of needs of targeted populations (IDP, refugee, returnee, and host populations) through community-based assistance, which entails building trust among the populations and bridging connections with other service providers, such as local government entities, NGOs, hospitals, legal entities, among others. IMC will be working with and building the capacity of local NGOs so that they can manage such centers in the future. This approach is part of IMC’s regional strategy and builds on the successful model developed in Turkey for the large and varied refugee population.


• Assessments and evaluation:
o Build on the already existing materials (Reports and FGDs on Gender Based Violence) and provide input to GBV rapid needs assessments of women and girls within the community at both multi-service centers level in Fallujah, Anbar and Dujail, Salah Al Din.
o Lead on conducting assessments of existing capacities within the MSCs team and local partners as well as at the governorate level within the scope of work and geographical locations of the MSCs.
o Lead on the development of capacity building plan for local partners
o Evaluate and shape appropriate community-based GBV psychosocial activities.
o Write assessment, evaluation and surveys reports and make the necessary recommendations in order to improve the overall GBV approach in GAC.
o Assess gaps and needs within the teams regarding the GBV general and Adolescent girls approach, formulate recommendations and participate in capacity building plans with officers and GAC Program Manager.
o Ensure IMC’s GBV minimum standards are met in the MSCs.

• Develop Basic Training Package for GBV field and office-based staff on multiple GBV trainings and Adolescent Girls Programming:
a. In coordination with the GBV technical unit, conduct trainings for MSC and local partner’s staff on:
• GBV Case management and referral pathway,
• The GBV information management system
• Communication skills
• Facilitation techniques and effective group discussions,
• Caring for survivors (child survivors)
• Caring for sexually assaulted survivors (PSS component)
• GBV emergency response and preparedness training
• Psychological first aid (in coordination with the MHPSS specialist),
• GBV community mobilization and awareness raising techniques (preferably be familiar with one long term BCC strategy; EMAP, SASA, promundo or any other tested strategy
• IASC GBV Guidelines – IASC guidelines for GBV prevention activities
• Develop contextualized demand driven PSS and or skills building and recreational activities curriculums to be used at the women centers
b. In coordination with the Adolescent Girls Programme Manager, set a time and schedule to train on the implementation of the Adolescent Girls Toolkit.

II-  job Coaching and Mentoring

a. Set up a system for clinical supervision for the GBV case workers in consultation with the GBV technical unit.
b. Set schedules and work plan for staff in order to ensure the quality of services delivered.

Core Competencies:

  • Education: Master Degree in clinical Social Sciences or relevant fields; Fluent in English and Arabic (speaking & writing). Knowledge of the context and similar experience will be highly considered.
  • Experience: strong proven knowledge and experience in providing technical support to GBV programs in emergency settings; minimum 5 years of professional experience in the related field (provision of GBV services of different levels and GBV community-based approaches); strong experience in management in a similar context on international level, training experience required.
  • Job knowledge: demonstrates a thorough understanding of the responsibilities specific to the job, as well as the ongoing capacity to stay abreast of changes in job functions.
