Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:
The Program Development intern will be part of the New Business Development team at International Medical Corps – a team that seeks to diversify and increase funding from government and institutional donors globally.  S/he will support the New Business Development team in the development of program and proposal opportunities that leverage International Medical Corps’ comparative advantage, supporting efforts to ensure excellent pre-positioning, capture planning, capacity building and external relationship development. S/he will also have the opportunity to support program development activities across the organization’s Regional Platforms and the Emergency Response Unit, gaining insight into emergency response, humanitarian aid, transition and recovery, as well as global health and development.
  1. Program design and proposal development
    • Support preparation and planning for program design sessions
    • Draft and/or edit at the direction of the Business Development Officer
    • Compile annex and background information to meet donor requirements
    • Update, maintain and help ensure compliance to proposal development timelines and calendars.
    • Provide follow up with Regional Teams, Technical Unit, proposal development team members as needed
    • Contribute to strengthening IMC’s management of the business development cycle
  2. Capacity building and knowledge management
    • Prepare forecasting projections to track potential opportunities
    • Support team in maintaining up to date insight into donors’ funding priorities and proposal guidelines
    • Provide analysis of issues letters to support recommendations for stronger proposal development
    • Support team in updating and analyzing internal summaries of donors’ country strategies as it relates to International Medical Corps’ programmatic priorities
    • Update capability statements and/or draft standard program descriptions
    • Draft Business Development internal update to support communication and prioritization across teams
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date files of opportunities pursued including concept notes, proposals, key communication, research and more
    • Support team to develop and strengthen information management strategies and processes
  3. Tool and resource development
    • Support the team in assessing and analyzing existing program development resources and tools to identify gaps and needs for updating or developing new materials
    • Support the team with internal organization and communications to ensure and increase use of and access to available tool and resources by global and country teams
    • Support teams’ efforts to strengthen existing and develop new BD related standard operating procedures, and guidance notes
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing relevant Master’s Degree in public health, international development or related field
  • Demonstrated interest in public health and/or international development
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills; writing samples will be required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and capacity to coordinate work across multiple projects
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills;     
  • Strong computer skills
