Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

BACKGROUND

International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organisation. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision, Training and Capacity Building:

  • To work under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, based in Dohuk (TBC), Iraq, and provide technical support and advice when required.
  • To work in close conjunction with the Iraq Country Security Manager.
  • To provide security updates and contextual information on a daily basis regarding the Areas of Operation (AOs), that IMC supported personnel and programs are operating in.
  • To provide leadership and technical management to the local national Security Focal Points (SFPs), in IMC’s, supported areas of interest.
  • To carry out Security Risk Assessments of IMC supported facilities as required.
  • To liaise and network with other NGO actors operating within the region.
  • To filter and disseminate current and relevant information to the IMC Management team, and associated personnel in a timely process and on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all security incidents are reported to both the Jordan Emergency Program Coordinator, and the Iraq Country Security Manager.

Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps (IMC). As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of IMC’s and donor compliance and ethical standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.  Communicates these values to staff and to partners, and required then to adhere to these values.

Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience that can validate the academic level.

Experience:  At least two (2) years’ experience in a proven security field (public, private, government, IO or NGO sectors).   Experience working within the NGO sector.

Knowledge & Skills: 

Military, Police or Law Enforcement Training preferable.

Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English (verbal and written) – (particularly in a crisis).

Good attention to detail.

Valid Passport.

Basic First Aid qualified.

Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Practical knowledge of tools, mechanisms and procedures for personal and organizational security.  Professional – Must behave in a professional manner at all times.
