Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:

International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.

Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility for rapid response to emergencies. International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

Program Background

International Medical Corps is a ‘first-responder’ both to natural and man-made disasters and has a mandate of working in remote locations. The organization has a comprehensive security management policy and plan in place and committed to do everything possible within its remit to ensure safety and security. Notwithstanding, the mandate and programming choices of International Medical Corps require staff with a high degree of resilience, sound judgment, the ability to move fast, and the willingness to travel and work in unstable situations and harsh conditions.


Scope of Work:

In the wake of significant disasters in the Caribbean and Latin America, International Medical Corps is responding with support to disaster-affected populations private, donor, and institutional funding. This position will work towards developing, monitoring, and strengthening relationships with key sub- recipients, vendors, governmental and intergovernmental institutions, and donors implement International Medical Corps’ response strategy.


 1. Grants and Subgrants

  • Review donor awards, memorandums of understanding, teaming agreements, subagreements, contracts, and donor request letters.
  • Researching and understanding the humanitarian funding landscape
  • Handles the day-to-day grants management of any funded awards.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and IMC’s policies and procedures for relevant agreements and advise staff / management on compliance issues.
  • Develop, implements, and monitors procedures to ensure proper stewardship of funds during pre-award, award, post-award, and closeout of grants.
  • Assessing potential sub-recipients based upon their past experience, capacity, and potential contribution to IMC implementation strategy.
  • Issuing and managing subawards (both GIK and cash) to local and international partners.
  • Proposal development consistent with requirements issued by various donors, including USAID, DFID, ECHO, and UN agencies, among others.
  • In conjunction with technical colleagues, generating written and oral reports for donors, partners, and HQ as needed.
  • Ability to provide updates and reports in a concise manner.
  • Informing and providing guidance to regional staff with regards to donor and IMC regulations.

 2.  Contracts

  •  Provide guidance on regional procurements, ensuring that they conform to best practices as dictated by international standards and IMC procurement policy.
  • Reviews and contributes to the development of procurements plans
  • Draft, review, and approve procurements per IMC procurement policy and as needed.
  • Advise on the development of appropriate milestones / deliverables.
  • Work with technical staff to ensure procedures are in place for monitoring performance of contracts.

 3. Partnerships

  •  Represent International Medical Corps to governmental and non-governmental groups as needed under supervision of the Team Lead
  • Positively engage with institutional and private donors and HQ
  • Identify, secure, and foster new partnership opportunities aligned with IMC’s current mission objectives in collaboration with the Team Lead.
  • Assessing potential partnerships based upon their past experience, capacity, and potential contribution to IMC implementation strategy.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse: Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity. Communicates these values to staff and to partners and requires them to adhere to these values. 



 Minimum of bachelor's degree in international relations, humanitarian assistance, or related degree.

  • At least three years of work experience implementing programs funded by international donors and managing subawards or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of humanitarian donor rules and regulations, especially USAID, DFID, ECHO, and UN agencies.
  • Experience in emergency response in a humanitarian context.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary officials or groups
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Project management skills with experience in managing and supervising administrative project
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and pays great attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively present information (both written and verbally) and respond appropriately to questions from national / regional disaster response agencies, local authorities, international and intergovernmental donors, and other stakeholders
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages (French, Spanish) helpful but not required
