Job Purpose
The Legal Department is seeking a paralegal with a specialty in data privacy to support our two staff attorneys in data privacy, export licensing and general legal matters. The candidate must be motivated, creative and results-oriented, and will be able to independently follow through project completion. This work requires exercising considerable independent judgment and initiative.

Main Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. The tasks listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. 

  • Research federal, state, and international laws and regulations related to export licensing and data privacy and security, including laws related to data collection, storage, transfer and data breach incidents;
  • Work with appropriate counsel (internal and external counsel) and business teams to obtain appropriate export licensing, and correct and/or mitigate potential compliance issues in areas of data privacy and export licensing;
  • Work with counsel to create, communicate, and maintain internal and public-facing export licensing and data privacy policies, standards and procedures and define related internal policy enforcement guidelines, including employee expectations around key processes and procedures related to data privacy;
  • Work with counsel on corporate branch registration processes in US domestic and overseas locations and maintain international corporate registration tracker;
  • Work with counsel to update legal-owned policies, trainings, and contract templates;
  • Maintain country-level litigation tracker;
  • Maintain field office legal compliance tracker;
  • Prepare and authenticate (as required) powers of attorney and corporate branch registration documents;
  • Manage legal department filing and recordkeeping;
  • Coordinate with various business stakeholders as necessary to ensure successful and timely project and task completion;
  • Handle various administrative tasks, ad-hoc legal and compliance projects;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Privacy Certification required


  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved institution required
  • Knowledge of US export licensing and international privacy regulations, including GDPR
  • CIPP certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ paralegal experience in a legal environment with a multi-national corporation or international NGO.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and able to follow through on assignments
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with other departments to advance organizational goals
  • Solid, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and a detail orientation
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and independently solve problems
  • Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality
  • Confidence and flexibility with excellent interpersonal, collaborative and partnership development skills to work successfully with employees across all departments, geographies and cultures
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required
