Job Purpose


The Senior Development Officer is responsible for raising funds from and managing a portfolio of assigned individual donors and prospects. The Senior Officer identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gift prospects and donors using specific metrics to track all activity and provide reports on outcomes. The Senior Officer will be an integral part of International Medical Corps’ first fundraising campaign to raise $50 million over six years.

Background

The Senior Officer will: - In conjunction with the Director of Development and Campaigns, develop annual targets for individual prospects/donors and the managed portfolio overall, including moves management and revenue- Be accountable for meeting/exceeding those targets through on-going analysis, reporting and strategy re-alignment- Design and execute cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for the managed portfolio to include relevant and thoughtful approaches based on each individual’s potential and/or history of engagement with International Medical Corps- Participate in and support pipeline development through identifying, researching and qualifying prospects- Actively participate in and/or support senior staff and volunteers in meetings with prospects and donors- Collaborate with the Director and colleagues to organize and direct the efforts of the organization’s fundraising volunteers as needed and assigned- Ensure comprehensive knowledge management processes and procedures are used to support effective fundraising, including database use, regular reporting, tracking of key team metrics, and compliance with other team protocols e.g. Development Operations, Finance, etc. - Work with the program and the communications departments to develop opportunities to give and draft proposals and solicitation materials to secure gifts- Contribute to the design and execution of Major Donor & Campaign events- Undertake special assignments, as directed.

Qualifications:

Essential:
Bachelor’s Degree

Desirable:
Master's Degree

Experience
Essential:
- At least 6 years of major gift fundraising experience, including strategic management of a portfolio of prospects and donors
- A sophisticated knowledge and understanding of major donor management best practices, evident in a history of developing creative approaches to portfolio management and revenue optimization
- Experience of working to, and meeting, ambitious revenue goals and performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning

Desirable:
Capital campaign fundraising experience

Skills & Competencies
Essential:
- Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills, including experience speaking to and writing for donors and crafting compelling donor-focused written materials
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with the facility to understand budget and projection models
- Flexibility to assume a workload that frequently necessitates an adjustment of priorities
- Able to translate abstract concepts and objectives into operational strategy and delivery
- Understanding of the necessary support processes required to deliver effective major donor/prospect relationships
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Highly computer literate, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as familiarity with CRM databases

Desirable:
- Raiser’s Edge/NXT CRM experience
- Experience of using data visualization software e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Excel
