18-280: GBV Specialist
Department:International Programs
Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:
The primary functions of the GBV Specialist is to oversee the implementation of quality GBV prevention and response activities, building capacity and promoting IMC as a leading agency in GBV. The incumbent will spend 50% visiting other regions under his/her responsibility.

1.          Program Planning
- Work closely with the GBV Program Managers to understand program goals and to meet expectations
- Contribute to quality assessments planned by IRC in collaboration with IMC under the project “ Developing an Inter-agency Women and Girls’ Safe Space Toolkit for Humanitarian Settings”
- Analyze trends of GBV and suggest ways to develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs
- Contribute to program design and the preparation of concept notes and proposals and reports
- Review PMT (Project management tools) including pipelines from East, Adamaoua and North Regions

2.        Program Implementation and Capacity Development
- Identify and reinforce existing support mechanisms and work closely with local counterparts to ensure community buy-in and cultural appropriateness of activities
- Strengthen case management and referral systems
- Work with teams and communities to develop appropriate prevention and awareness-raising/behavior change strategies
- Support GBV staff to become leaders of GBV prevention and response. Depending on skill sets and required roles, trainings may include: gender, guiding principles of addressing GBV, GBV case management, referral pathway development, compassionate care, facilitation skills, mobilization, project cycle management, etc.
- Organize and support trainings for healthcare providers, as needed and appropriate
- Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems
- Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed

3.        Coordination
- Coordinate with local and international NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support for survivors, including participation in strengthening GBV SOPs and referral pathways
- Actively participate in protection/GBV working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives, also promoting IMC as a leader agency in GBV
- Ensure maximum visibility of IMC and relevant donors amongst the UN and NGO community
- Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct

4.        Human Resources Management
·         Assist in the selection, training and support of qualified program staff
·         Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care

5.        Financial Management
- Review work, spending and procurement plans in line with IMC’s financial pipelines
- Ensure compliance with donor financial regulations

6.        Security
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
- Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing all new initiatives with national/ field staff and community leaders and incentive workers or volunteer

BA or Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study

Experience (Identify specific experiences necessary for this position)

- Three to Five years’ experience in GBV program design and implementation, including at least two years in a humanitarian/ camp setting
- Familiarity with standards and guidelines for GBV programming and coordination as well as guidance on protection from SEA
- Experience in representing and promote the agency in relevant coordination forum.

- Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects
